Caruso Law Offices, an Albuquerque personal injury and wrongful death law firm, is expanding and looking to immediately hire a full time litigation paralegal. Law firm has been established in Albuquerque for 38 years and is 4.7 star Google rated by its clients.
Must have prior litigation paralegal experience. Please don't apply if you don't have prior litigation paralegal experience.
Litigation Paralegal position is forty hours per week, Mon to Fri, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Law firm is located near Montgomery and Carlisle in Albuquerque.
Position requires good typing, phone and organizational skills. People skills a must.
Experience in personal injury litigation and wrongful death litigation is a big plus. Spanish speaking is also a plus. Good work atmosphere, beautiful office, easy parking.
Pre-Litigation and Litigation duties under the supervision of attorneys include
PRE-LITIGATION:
Summarize police report
Interviewing witnesses
Managing client file computerized case management system
Reporting claim to responsible insurance companies
Sending letter of representation to responsible insurance companies
Sending letters of protection to health care providers
Ordering of medical records and bills from health care providers
Updating client medical index on a monthly basis
Managing tickle system of securing medical records and bills with follow up if not received from health care provider within specific time period
Notifying client's health insurance company of representation and request for subrogation ledgers
Requesting reduction in subrogation from health insurance company
Requesting final balance due from client's health care providers
Requesting reduction in lien amount from health care providers
Contacting clients once a month with status of case and updating client on status of medical index
Calendaring client appointments with attorneys
Contacting insurance claims adjuster regarding status of case
Preparing draft of settlement demand outline for review by attorney
LITIGATION:
Drafting summons and complaints for approval by attorney
Filing of summons and complaint
All filing in Odyssey (state court) and Pacer (federal court)
Modifying form interrogatories, requests for production and requests for admission
Meeting with clients, following up with clients and formally responding to defendants' interrogatories, request for production and requests for admission
Scheduling and calendaring of depositions, hearings, arbitration, trials and mediation
Preparing notice and service of subpoena for depositions
Notifying clients of depositions, arbitration, trials, mediation and meetings with attorney
Managing and organizing medical records, employment records, tax returns and other documents
Preparing mediation notebook, arbitration notebook and/or trial notebook
Position immediately available to qualified candidate.
