QUALIFICATIONS
At least 1-2 years experience as a cook in a hospital/ALF/SNF.
Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures in the healthcare industry. Ability to train and mentor dietary aides and cooks, help in planning menus and possess problem solving skills.
Understanding of special diets, seasoning requirements cooking times and temperature controls.
Ability to estimate quantities of food required, limit waste and utilize left overs while serving attractive and appetizing meals to residents 3 times per day.
Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight time frames in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to learn company business operations and its culture, and foster a similar spirit of learning and continuous development in others.
Sincere and enthusiastic interest in the senior care experience with a caring and patient demeanor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with the weekday cook and manager to prepare meals during dining hours.
Ensure the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of each shift worked.
Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene.
Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures.
Read and follow standardized recipes.
Understand how to approach and communicate with all residents, guests and family members.
Serve food according to dietary guidelines for each resident.
Ensure cold items are served cold and hot food is served hot.
