Kitchen Crew Worker

Agri-Cultura Network (ACN) is New Mexico’s Largest farming cooperative and is a community driven model building New Mexico’s small farming economy through sustainable and regenerative food justice.

Role Description: The ACN kitchen works within the commercial kitchen run by the South Valley Economic Development Center. Kitchen contractors take delivery of fresh, New Mexico-grown produce; store, wash, and pack produce; and help to load the produce in ACN vehicles for produce delivery.

Required Qualifications:

A positive attitude.

Valid drivers’ license

Dependability, responsibility, honesty, and integrity

Basic math skills

Ability to stand for the entirety of the work shift

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull heavy objects

Ability to crouch, stoop, kneel

Knowledge of or interest in learning about local produce & food access

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Willingness to work as a team player

Good personal hygiene to comply with food safety standards

Ability to interact in a professional manner with fellow staff and with farmers and buyers

Ability to keep workstation organized and efficient

Proficiency in problem solving

Time management: ability to keep up with a fast-paced washing and packing schedule

Interpersonal skills

Proficiency in written communication

Ability to clearly mark logs and label produce in English

Proficiency in verbal communication

Ability to identify tasks in need of completion and take initiative to complete them

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with produce at grocery stores or co-ops and familiarity with produce washing and quality control

Bi-Lingual Spanish/English

Compensation

$15 an hour

Hours

Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, 30-40 hours per week

Overall Summary of Responsibilities

Kitchen crew is expected to be present, on time, and fill out appropriate paperwork, while taking direction from the Lead Kitchen Crew and managers to move produce in a safe, efficient and in high volume.
