Protective Force Course Manager

DescriptionOur Government Services Division currently has a new opportunity for a Protective Force Course Manager who serves as a member of the DOE National Training Center (NTC) training staff, either as a Lead Instructor or Assistant Instructor in the training of personnel from the following agencies; Department of Energy (DOE), DOE contractors and subcontractors, and other federal, state, local agencies, military, and foreign nationals.

Enhances protective force training by maintaining/applying professional-level knowledge and competency in area(s) of firearms, marksmanship, use/employment of special weapons and tactics, use of force

Teaches/conducts training presentations by reviewing course materials and lesson plans before instruction/presentation; identifying learning objectives; utilizing teaching aids

Facilitates course presentations by maintaining course schedules; assisting in the coordination of requisite pre-presentation activities; and ensuring training presentations are carried out within the prescribed course framework

Reinforces learning by utilizing teaching aids; demonstrating occupational practices, procedures, skills, and techniques; involving students in hands-on/experiential learning and practical applications/exercises; encouraging student participation and interaction; observing student performance; providing feedback to students; identifying student progress and/or remedial training needs; providing technical guidance; and coaching, counseling, and assisting students

Evaluate the effectiveness of training/course presentations by observing student performance and student application of techniques/skills; assess student comprehension of subject matter using oral interviews, written examinations, and performance tests; review course critiques and analyzing information; and prepare and submit after-action reports

Satisfies course design/revision by conferring with manager/supervisor/instructor personnel to disseminate and receive input toward identifying subject areas required to develop, expand, and/or enhance curriculum and security-force officer training and development

Completes course/project administrative tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work for accomplishment within expected timeframes; documenting action(s)/task(s) completed; accurately recording the account code and time worked on each course/project on the official time record

Performs training activities and tasks safely and effectively by employing safe and healthful practices and procedures following applicable DOE Orders and NTC Safe Operating Procedures

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing and studying applicable federal laws and regulations, DOE orders, and NTC policies and procedures

QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify. Essential skills and experience:

Four years of related professional experience in law enforcement, industrial security, or a related field.[NOTE: Acceptable experience includes any combination of relevant education, training, and experience (i.e., experience comparable in difficulty to college-level work), totaling four years above the high school level, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.]

Knowledge of DOE orders, DOE Deadly Force policy, as related to firearms, firearms safety, and qualification courses

Knowledge of Live Fire Range operations, policies, and procedures

Demonstrated initiative, with a strong work ethic and unquestioned integrity

Knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in the use, function, training points, and tactical deployment of firearms

Level of physical fitness and agility sufficient to perform requisite physical tasks and functions

Valued but not required skills and experience:

Preferred certification in the following courses: PFT-215 Basic Security {police Officer Training (BSPOT), TRF-100 Tactical Response Force I, TRF-200 Tactical Response Force II, and Intermediate Force Instructor Course (IFIC)
