Description We're seeking a hardworking and experienced Paralegal with 3-5 years of minimum litigation experience. The role primarily involves drafting and editing of discovery and other legal documents, setting up and maintaining files, prooing work for accuracy, and comprehending and indexing case documents. The ideal candidate will proficiently monitor case calendars and communicate flawlessly, both orally and in writing, with clients and other contacts. The role also entails conducting factual, and to some extent legal, research, and aiding in trial preparation by assembling notebooks and exhibits. Applicants should exhibit experience in requesting medical records and preparing comprehensive medical summaries. A deep understanding of legal terms and NM court rules and procedures is essential. Other relevant tasks include gathering case-specific information like identifying potential witnesses or acquiring affidavits. Exceptional prooing and word processing skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and PowerPoint are required while knowledge of Document Management Software will be an added advantage. 58-60k We are offering a contract to hire opportunity for a Legal Secretary in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The role involves providing specialized clerical support within a legal environment, in a dynamic and fast-paced setting. As a Legal Secretary, you will be instrumental in managing court filings, drafting legal documents, and preparing for trials among other duties.Responsibilities: Manage and organize all court filings, ensuring all documents are filed in a timely and accurate manner Draft and proo legal documents, maintaining high levels of accuracy at all times Assist in trial preparation by organizing evidence, documents, and other pertinent information Maintain and update electronic databases and legal-use software technology, ensuring data is accurate and up-to-date Conduct online research to support legal proceedings and provide relevant information as needed Work closely with the legal team to manage document control and maintain organized files Utilize strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Communicate with clients, other attorneys, and court personnel, maintaining professionalism at all times Ensure compliance with State and Federal District Court rules at all times Resolve any inquiries related to the legal process in a timely and efficient manner.Requirements Proficient in court filings Ability to draft legal documents accurately and efficiently Experience in trial preparation Strong understanding of legal terminology and principles Excellent oral and written communication skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Prior experience in a legal secretary role is preferred Legal certification or degree is a plus.
