The Director of Strategic Initiatives is accountable and responsible for providing leadership and management to a variety of strategic initiatives, special projects and new technology. These strategic initiatives and special projects require high levels of collaboration, integration across multiple groups and leadership teams, strength in quickly establishing trusted relationships, and exceptional judgement abilities. This role is also accountable for providing executive level project and business analysis support to the General Manager. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to mission growth, organizational opportunities, new technologies and operational efficiencies by providing leadership for strategic initiatives that require engagement with multiple leadership teams and lead to development of efficient solutions and approaches.

Effectively scope, lead, and manage projects from inception through execution - special projects that support the short-term mission objectives and the long-term strategic goals of DOE National Training Center.

Maintain strong working relationships – collaborate, consult, and partner with leaders and leadership teams across the DOE Complex to support successful execution of strategic initiatives and special projects.

Continuously analyze relevant business/Project needs.

Oversee and improve the Integrated Management System for the National Training Center, and identify potential problems, proactively address issues and challenges and remove roadblocks.

Exercise informed judgement and take appropriate actions impacting the organization as it relates to strategic initiatives, key projects and/or technology and operational issues.

Drive common understanding of efficient performance, issue status, and progress on initiatives among leadership teams and other stakeholder teams through effective communication.

Contribute to improving execution velocity and teamwork by cultivating and ensuring timely, accurate, proactive and collaborative communications.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Related Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Ten plus (10+) years related work experience

Five plus (5+) years direct supervisory/management experience

Five plus (5+) years Project Management experience, PMP certification preferred

Strong intellectual capital, business judgement, intelligence, the ability to work independently in a dynamic ever-changing environment

Demonstrated ability to manage large complex projects and change efforts, prioritize work, and drive results through influence and professional relationships

Ability to assess issues, challenges, and topics quickly with a track record of getting up to speed and adding immediate value to new projects and initiatives

Strong leadership and collaboration skills, top-flight consulting skills, strong yet practical project management skills - with a willingness to continually embrace personal and professional development

Exceptional skills in, and ability to, co-create and work collectively with various DOE leaders and other stakeholders

Experience leading and navigating large, complex initiatives and projects, including successfully building, maintaining and managing relationships with executives and other key stakeholders

Broad executive level thinker with the ability to relate new trends to enterprise strategies and opportunities; manage with integrity, leadership presence, and the confidence necessary to influence at all levels within and across organizations
