Christine Duncan is a hiring a full-time teacher to fill a Bilingual/TESOL Certified Spanish Language Arts Teacher (grades 6-8). 1. Instructional Duties include: plan, prepare and deliver engaging Spanish Language Arts instruction for grades 6, 7, and 8, aligned with state and district standards. Teach Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish to 8th-grade students, utilizing College Board standards and requirements. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, including English Language Learners. Use a variety of teaching strategies, including project-based learning, technology integration, and collaborative activities, to enhance student engagement. 2. AP Spanish Program Duties: Manage the AP Spanish program for 8th graders, including student registration and coordination with the College Board. Prepare students for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam by developing a curriculum that aligns with AP course expectations. Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to ensure students meet AP proficiency standards. Monitor and support students in understanding the rigor and expectations of AP coursework. 3. Classroom Management: Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and mutual respect. Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning environment. Maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement. 4. Bilingual and TESOL Support: Provide language development support for Spanish-speaking students to improve their academic Spanish proficiency. Incorporate TESOL strategies to enhance instruction for English Language Learners. Foster students’ bilingualism and biliteracy through culturally responsive teaching practices. Job duties are to teach kindergarten students in all subject areas including language arts, math and science at grade level; work productively as part of a teach and in a cooperative working environment; implement positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS); other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or as accepted by NM Public Education Department and NM Level Teaching License with Bilingual and TESOL endorsement or ability to obtain such by the start of employment.
