Sign on bonus may apply POSITION SUMMARY: Effectively provides training sessions to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Knowledgeable of developing trends in the fitness industry, and demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning. Successfully builds a strong network of relationships, while growing and maintaining a solid client base. Trainer will modify fitness routine as needed to meet varied health, ability and cultural needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develops, and implements individualized workout/programs that effectively progress clients toward their personal goals in a motivating, challenging yet safe manner.

Leads individual and small-group training sessions within our Y Intensity Program.

Stays current with advances in the health and wellness field, and demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning/mastery of craft.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.

Audits progress and accurately tracks client sessions following YMCA protocol.

Celebrates achievements of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.

Promotes and sells personal training programs/ services while helping drive department revenue by building/retaining an extensive client base.

Follows Fitness Floor expectation when not scheduled for personal training; engaging all members and assisting them with their exercising questions/needs.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Contacts supervisor with any equipment issues.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

Maintain required certifications.

Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.

Always record class attendance totals on the sheet provided.

Use Dayforce scanner when arriving and exiting class and record the number of classes taught.

Attend a minimum of 2 all staff meetings per year.

Take all online YMCA mandatory safety courses.

Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Exhibit personal and professional behavior in a manner consistent with the best interest of the Association, so as not to bring discredit to the Association.

Perform such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor

Support the Annual Community Support Campaign.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

National personal training certification through any of the following organizations: NASM, ACSM, ACE, NSCA

Minimum of 2 years personal training experience

CPR, AED, First Aid certified

Bachelor’s degree in Health/Exercise Science or related field. College degree preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Effort and Dexterity:

The ability to control your own body weight through movement is necessary. Bending, lifting and twisting may be intergraded. The ability to move equipment is necessary. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Visual Acuity, Hearing, Speaking:

Verbal cues are needed to assist members in following along. Trainers should visually identifying participants in need of modifications and cueing proper format.

Candidates whose disabilities make then unable to meet these requirements will still be considered fully qualified if they can perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.
