Job Title- ParalegalPay rate $35-40 per hourLocation- Wayne, NJJob OverviewThe position will also handle certain administrative tasks associated with operating an in-house IP department. Experience with trademarks and other IP is preferred.Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Docketing global IP prosecution and other matters for an international in-house IP department.

Preparing and filing forms and documents for US and PCT patent applications with the USPTO and WIPO receiving offices.

Annuity/maintenance fee processing and management.

Preparation and electronic submission of various items, including patent applications, declarations, certificates of correction, corrected filing receipts, assignment recordation papers, etc.

Preparing “shell” documents for USPTO amendments and other filings.

Collecting signed inventor documents for patent applications. Tracking of inventor awards.

Preparing for and running weekly docket review meetings.

Demonstrate strong command of rules, forms, and requirements pertaining to international and US

patent applications, and willingness to research rules when needed.

IDS management and filing for both simple and complex patent families independently as well as with commercial IDS management tools. Familiarity with commercial IDS management tool is useful, but not required.

The ideal candidate will have trademark experience, including US trademark filings and conducting trademark clearances with in-house legal team.

Operational management of vendors and related tasks

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a patent or IP paralegal at a law firm and/or in-house.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Paralegal Certificate a plus.

Strong command of at least one common IP docketing system, (such as Foundation IP, IPENDO, Anaqua, IP Manager, or CPI).

Knowledge of USPTO patent filing procedures is required. This includes electronic filing, knowledge, and completion of USPTO forms, IDS practice, and preparing and filing new patent applications.

PCT patent filing experience is preferred.

Trademark searching and filing experience is preferred.

Familiarity with international patent practice, particularly EPO practice, is preferred.

Must be well organized and demonstrate attention to detail.

Ability to multi-task, manage time, and to work independently with minimal supervision.

Willingness to perform administrative tasks as needed.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language. Knowledge of certain additional languages would be a plus.

Time management skills: ability to handle high volume requests.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel, and PowerPoint.
