Responsible for working alongside physicians and facilitating advanced primary and specialty nursing services. Provides general and preventative care for children and adults, perform check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests, and prescribe medication in the Interventional and Nuclear medicine areas of Radiology. Principal Accountabilities:Functions:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient prior to an imaging procedure or therapy.

Evaluate a patient’s medical history, current condition and any potential risks or contraindications and review with the supervising radiologist.

Maintain open and clear communication with supervising radiologist(s) including prompt notification of adverse events or clinical concerns.

Gather and order appropriate pre and/or post procedural lab and imaging tests based on patient assessment and clinical indications.

Assist with inpatient and outpatient consults.

Educate patients on upcoming imaging procedures, including what to expect, necessary preparations, and potential risks or side effect and obtain informed consents.

Discuss the benefits vs risks for exams utilizing ionizing radiation.

Provide post procedural instructions and address questions and concerns.

Perform post procedural rounding for inpatients.

Schedule and conduct outpatient post op visits if applicable.

Collaborate with Nurse Navigators and other team members to conduct and respond to post procedural telephone calls.

Assist(scrub) during an imaging procedure when needed.

Serve as a patient advocate to ensure their needs and preferences are addressed during their imaging encounter relating to patient safety and ensuring adherence to best practices.

Collaborate with board certified fellowship trained radiologists, radiology residents, imaging technologists, radiology nurses and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and develop appropriate treatments plans.

Prescribe medications as needed for pain management or purposes relating to imaging procedures and within their scope of practice.

Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, procedures, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards, institutional policies, and AMG professional billing practices.

Assist or perform nonionizing image guided procedures under the supervision of a board-certified fellowship trained radiologist.

Provide a multifaceted role in delivering high quality, patient centered care throughout a patient’s treatment plan which will include but not be limited to the initial evaluation and follow up care.

Assist in providing the patient and their family with information about their diagnosis, treatment options, and available support services. This would include expediting timely appointments, tests, procedures, and consultations to minimize delays in care.

Participate in quality improvement projects initiatives aimed at enhancing the patient experience, improving care coordination, and optimizing outcomes.

Meet all standards and regulations relating to New Jersey and AHS medical staff bylaws as deemed acceptable and appropriate by Radiology physician leadership

Required:

Master's degree in nursing or related area.

Current state Nurse Practitioner license.

Preferred:

5 or more years' experience in Nursing or relevant area.
