A large transportation company is looking to hire a Safety Director to work in it's Edgewater Park, NJ location.

Position Overview: Promote and support safety, compliance, and operational objectives. Function as the Safety administrator within your scope of responsibility. Collaborate with other functional leaders and staff for the onboarding and maintenance of hiring and retaining safe experienced employees and contractors. Monitor, assess, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company safety policies or standards. Conduct employee or contractor meetings and education as required for responsible locations. Act as a liaison and goodwill ambassador between the company Safety and Risk Management (SRM) team and other departments. Reports to the Regional Safety Director.

Job Description- Duties & Responsibilities:

Promote culture of safety and a safe working environment for company employees and contractors.

Ensure compliance with and adherence to regulations and company safety standards, policies and procedures.

Provide safety or compliance guidance and seek clarification as needed related to loss prevention, safety, and compliance.

Evaluates regional safety and compliance performance and provides feedback to the Regional Safety Director.

Ensure employees receive safety education as required by regulation and company policies or standards.

Ensure safety and compliance coaching, reeducation, or corrective action, where required, has been completed.

Facilitates regular injury prevention education for all employees within scope of responsibility.

Facilitate compliance with FMCSA or other applicable regulations, including, but not limited to controlled substance or alcohol testing requirements, hours of service, vehicle maintenance, driver qualification files, roadside inspections, insurance, and other driver or vehicle recordkeeping requirements.

Ensure terminals manage the new hire driver on-boarding process at their respective terminal(s).

Conduct monthly reviews of CSA and SMS data, identify non-compliance, provide feedback and recommendations to the Regional Safety Director.

Coordinates with terminal and Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to ensure compliance with company standard for Monthly Maintenance Reports and Monthly Safety Risk Training.

Other duties as assigned.
