The Marine Mechanic Assistant reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in repairs to marine machinery, fishing vessels and general facilities.
Essential Responsibilities
· Responsible for assisting the maintenance team in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of marine equipment and fishing vessels as directed
· Troubleshoot and repair marine equipment and parts
· Install and repair marine parts as directed
· Assist Maintenance Manager in movement of parts and equipment
· Responsible to help maintain parts inventory in an organized manner
· Handling and storage of maintenance supplies and equipment
· Timely and accurate submission of paperwork (as required)
· Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
· General knowledge of marine equipment
· Knowledge of mechanics tools
· Must be in possession of own tools
· Valid driver’s license
· High School diploma or GED
· 18 Years or older
· Legally able to work in the United States
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
· Familiarity with diesel engines, fuel systems, oil changes, antifreeze checks, exhaust systems, pumps and other commercial boat systems
