Ocean Spray Cranberries is a vibrant agricultural cooperative owned by more than 700 cranberry farmers in the United States, Canada and Chile, who have helped preserve the family farming way of life for generations. The cooperative’s cranberries are currently featured in more than a thousand great-tasting, good-for-you products in over 100 countries worldwide.
Our Receiving Station, located in Chatsworth, NJ, is currently looking for a Material Handler to join our team. This facility operates 4 days/week (10 hours/day) the majority of the year, but operates 7 days/week to receive fruit during our harvest season, which is its primary purpose.
Here, we support 16 farmer-owner families throughout NJ and receive 50-60 truckloads of cranberries per day during peak harvest, ensuring that the berries meet our high-quality standards by testing every load that is delivered to us. The balance of the year is spent preparing for the next harvest season.
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Material Handler position is the maintenance of wooden and plastic fruit bins including sorting, repair, cleaning and staging in preparation for the harvest season, using appropriate tools in a safe manner. Additional duties include assisting with a variety of harvest-related tasks.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safe operation of pneumatic and hand tools, equipment and machinery required of bin repair and/or assembly to support receiving operation.
Responsible and accountable for continuous cleaning in order to maintain a safe and organized work area.
Maintain cleanliness of plastic bins.
Advise management of any operational issues, equipment failures and safety or quality concerns.
Maintain accurate production, quality and operational records as required.
Prior forklift experience is a plus.
All other duties as assigned.
