In this role, the Co-op/Intern will join a collaborative team of scientists and engineers which support new product development aimed at addressing unmet needs in wound closure with particular emphasis on antibacterial technologies and cardiovascular surgery. Key ResponsibilitiesDay-to-day responsibilities may include the following:

Hands-on laboratory work in engineering laboratories

Utilizing bespoke machining processes for novel medical device builds and evaluation

Attending and participating in Voice-of-Customer (VOC) labs with surgeons

Working with teams to design key project studies

Testing and characterization of prototype devices and competitive products

Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes

Collaborating with engineers and outside suppliers to support project related activities

Generating 3D Models and 3D printing them to support/develop test methods and fixtures

Qualifications-Required:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Legally authorized to work in the US and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (ex. H1-B, F-1).

Must have transportation to and from work daily

Ability to relocate to work on site in a laboratory environment

Completion of at least a first year of undergraduate academic program

Must be able to balance multiple projects and maintain organization

Must have the ability to work individually as well as on a team

Must have good interpersonal and communication skills

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel

Co-Op Terms: January to July/August 2025. Start/End dates are flexible to accommodate academic calendars.

Ability to work full-time (40 hrs/week) during the Co-op / Internship term Education:

Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of the Internship assignment pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree.

A minimum GPA of 2.8 is required, but a GPA of 3.0 or higher is strongly preferred

The following disciplines are preferred: Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering Experience and Skills:

Ability to work closely with technical and non-technical personnel

Excellent communication skills

Demonstrated problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and a dedication to delivering the highest quality of work with attention to detail

High level of organization and ability to balance multiple projects/initiatives while achieving results

Must be a self-starter. Comfortable working both independently and with a team.
