In addition, maintains current knowledge of payroll taxes for federal, multi-state and local tax law purposes and identifies opportunities for tax savings. Provides oversight for tax planning initiatives system-wide.This is a Hybrid position with on-site requirements out of Oceanport, NJ.Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Certified Public Accountant issued by a State Board of Accountancy.

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience Required:

8-10 years of experience in tax, including tax accounting and planning.

Big 4 experience highly preferred

Major Responsibilities:

Leads the preparation of the Corporations federal and state tax returns. Ensure the returns are prepared accurately and filed on a timely basis by both coordinating/managing external accounting firms and preparing the schedules and analyses supporting those activities.

Responsible for the preparation of the tax provision analyses and calculation of related deferred taxes on a periodic basis.

Serves as a key resource to assist with tax planning initiatives related to RWJ Barnabas Health, including specific transactional tax structuring which may evolve due to mergers and acquisitions and/or internal reorganizations.

Researches complex tax issues that impact profitability, complying with tax laws, analyzing tax legislation, and defending the Corporation s tax position on audit.

Monitors updates to IRS rules and regulations and evaluates impact to the Corporation. Assists outside firm with all necessary IRS forms related to tax and manages and facilitates IRS income tax audits, responds to inquiries from the IRS and prepares responses, creates schedules, etc.

Manages changes to the current Group Ruling filed under the annual 990. Also coordinates the collection and reporting of community benefit activities to ensure compliance and continued exemption from federal income taxes.

Develops processes for continual reviews of executive compensation disclosures as required by Schedule J of Form 900 to ensure appropriate and complete compliance with all rules and regulations.

Responsible for the registration and the filing of annual financial reports with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs in order to maintain charitable registration with the State of New Jersey.

Responsible to perform periodic reviews and monitor compliance with federal tax law to accurately report private business use for those facilities financed with tax-exempt bond proceeds.

Reviews and evaluates current financial processes and assesses the need for updates and/or enhancements. Ensures that adequate reports are being developed and maintained for proper reporting, and that the appropriate controls are in place to ensure accuracy and integrity of information.

Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Strong working knowledge of income tax accounting, including FIN 48.

Knowledge of documentation requirements for internal controls over financial reporting.

Ability to research and communicate technical tax issues and prepare and maintain relevant and organized work papers and files.

Proven experience in providing practical and technically sound tax solutions and recommendations.

Demonstrated strategic influence skills, tactical planning skills, time management skills and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate/collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, management, executives and external organizations.

Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a changing environment and manage multiple projects with short deadlines.

Ability and experience to effectively gather, assess, analyze information for tax audit purposes.
