Description
The Small Tool Mechanic performs assigned small tools and equipment repairs in the shop to reduce equipment downtime.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of small tool repairs.
Removes, cleans, repairs, reinstalls and adjusts all small tool components.
Properly uses and legibly completes work orders electronically in real-time.
Assists other technicians with repairs as directed by Shop Foreman.
Safely uses all power and hand-held mechanic’s tools.
Selects appropriate action for all small tool repairs during the diagnostic process.
Evaluates completed work and conducts final inspection of small tools prior to releasing back into service.
Cleans exterior of all small tools prior to releasing back into service, if related to repair.
Adds lubricants and other fluids to all small tools and equipment as needed.
Maintains shop and work areas according to TPR 6S standards.
Utilizes appropriate PPE.
Attends regular training to maintain goals set in IDP.
Notifies Shop Foreman of issues / request assistance from Shop Foreman as needed.
Notifies Shop Foreman of discrepancies in work order requirements to actual repair needs.
Other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
High school diploma, GED, or vocational school required.
Ability to use Microsoft and Apple computer systems.
Must have the ability to interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams and other documents and to
safely operate all company small tools and equipment.
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Willingness to initiate and embrace change.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in a construction yard environment.
Must be able to load and unload packages and equipment.
Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to pick up packages and equipment.
After successfully completing 90 days of employment, this position will transfer into Local 825 Mechanic and will then be a Union position.
