Fire Equipment Inspection Technician

We seek a dependable and detail-oriented Fire Equipment Inspection Technician to join our team. If you have experience in fire protection services, we would love to hear from you!

Location: Little Ferry, NJ

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Compensation: $25-$30 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities:

- Carry out inspections, installations, testing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, sprinklers, alarms, and other fire safety equipment.

- Make sure all tasks adhere to local and national fire codes.

- Document inspections thoroughly, noting any necessary repairs or replacements.

- Conduct inspections and acceptance testing of newly installed fire protection systems.

- Follow up on fire code compliance to ensure corrective measures are implemented when violations are identified.

- Identify necessary corrective actions to ensure properties comply with applicable fire codes, laws, regulations, and standards, and communicate these measures clearly to property owners or their representatives.

- Develop or review fire exit plans.

- Inspect and test fire protection or detection systems to verify that they meet relevant laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.

- Work closely with other organizations, such as law enforcement agencies, to coordinate efforts.

- Attend training sessions to stay up-to-date on fire prevention, safety, and firefighting procedures.

Requirements:

- At least 3 years of experience in fire safety inspections is required.

- Experience with inspections, installations, testing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, sprinklers, alarms, and other safety equipment is essential.

- Familiarity with fire codes and regulations is a must, along with knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, and procedures to promote effective security operations at the local, state, or national level.

- A Fire Inspector Certification is necessary.

- The ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders when required (approximately 25 lbs to 50 lbs), alongside tasks that involve pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods while climbing.

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to reliability are crucial.

- A valid driver’s license is also required.
