About TRFM:
TRFM is a Bible-believing Christian church in North Jersey Paterson. We are Redeemed Overcomers, a Spirit-filled multicultural church operating with integrity, impacting our world for Christ, beginning from our immediate community in targeted ways. Under Pastoral leadership, we focus on clearly teaching and preaching God's Word and enriching individuals, families, and marriages. We are passionate about reaching children and youth and building them up to maturity in Christ to fulfill their destiny and impact their generation. As a reaching, teaching, learning, loving, and launching church, we intentionally have programming to meet the community's felt needs through creative and practical ministry such as clothing, feeding, economic empowerment, and other means.
Purpose of Position:
The Church Keyboardist will be responsible for supporting the church's music ministry. They will minister & play the keyboard and be an active, integral part of the praise and worship team. Their music expertise will direct the flow of music and center the accompaniment of other instrumentalists. The church Praise & Worship team leader will guide the role. Our current keyboard is an S90 Yamaha.
Qualifications:
1. Personal - A born-again Christian with interest or calling in Kingdom advancement, kind, disciplined, reliable, and enjoys working with people.
2. Experience - At least 5 years of keyboard & musical knowledge and 3 years of playing in church, Christian environments/ functions
3. Skills - Clear communication, ability to play by ear and seamlessly transition into new songs without always stopping. Guide the instrumentalists to synchronize with the flow of music effectively. Strong attention to detail, creative thinking, and strategy. Enjoys contributing to developing new processes and ideas to achieve ministry impact.
5. Technical skills - Navigating the internet to find music references to support the learning of the larger team
6. Language skills - Proficient English speaker and writer
7. Education - Proficient in the keyboard instrument - knowledge and ability to play other instruments is a plus
Responsibilities:
1. Rehearse once weekly (or as otherwise specified) with the Praise & Worship and other pre-scheduled entities - i.e., church choir(s).
2. Provide vocal coordination (key and note direction) to support the Praise & Worship Team, etc.
3. Provide keyboard accompaniment at the service(s) regularly scheduled on Sundays from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm, occasionally on Wednesdays for Bible Study at 7:30 pm, and for pre-informed services or church events.
4. Collaborate with the clergy and the Music Coordinator in the general planning the Ministry’s music-related or inclusive programs.
5. In conjunction with the other musicians and Tech Team leader, advise purchasing all necessary music supplies and adding instrumentalists and vocalists. Note that financial music-related requests should first be relayed to the Music Coordinator to initiate dialogue among needed parties - i.e., the Pastor and the Finance Ministry.
6. Use the church facilities (keyboard) for lessons for worship team members and co-musicians. Use of facilities must be scheduled and approved by the Music Coordinator.
7. Report to the appropriate committee the condition and needs for the maintenance of the keyboard. The church shall provide money for the proper care of our instruments
We welcome keyboardists looking for a church home. However, if you're only available to serve during our church services, note that Sunday service begins at 11 AM. Other services will be coordinated as well.
The rate can be negotiated depending on expertise.
