I am searching for certified nursing assistants, nurses, or physical therapists to assist me with activities of daily living.
I am a 48-year-old man with ALS. I am 5'6" and weigh 165 pounds. I have no use of my legs and limited use of my arms and hands.
Currently I have a team of four aides that help me in the mornings and evenings, but due to vacation plans and illnesses is become obvious that I need a larger team available.
I need help with the following in the mornings (typically requires 90 minutes; $75 per morning):
Transitioning from the bed to my wheelchair
transitioning from my wheelchair to the toilet and back
transitioning from wheelchair to shower bench, bathing, and transitioning back
brushing my teeth and hair
getting dressed
I need help with the following in the evenings (typically requires 30 minutes; $35 before 10:30 PM, $50 after):
on occasion, transitioning from outdoor wheelchair to indoor wheelchair after events
undressing
using a urinal bottle
brushing my teeth and hair
transitioning from wheelchair to bed using a Hoyer lift.
Successful applicants will have relevant certifications and experience, will be familiar with Hoyer lifts, will be able to lift a 165 pound human safely and confidently, and will have experience caring for the handicapped. Successful applicants will also need to pass a background check.
