New restaurant and cafe opening this spring in downtown Jersey City is looking for a pastry chef to join our team. Our program will include fresh breads and seasonal desserts manufactured daily for the restaurant, as well as a selection of baked goods and savory sandwiches for the cafe.
We are looking for someone who can collaborate to develop this menu, and be responsible for leading its execution. The ideal candidate can work independently, has a creative drive for baking, and is available mornings.
Responsibilities will include:
Taking the lead to design a menu of premade breakfast items for the cafe and two other locations
Daily production of this menu, training other team members in its execution
Assisting the head chef to develop a dessert program for nightly dinner service in the restaurant, and manufacturing said desserts
Daily bread production for dinner service
Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to food safety guidelines
Ability to work independently and complete tasks within a timeframe
This position is a great opportunity to take a creative lead in an innovative and exciting new kitchen. Candidates should have 2+ years in pastry, knowledge of bread making, and a creative drive. Management experience is a plus
