Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented and experienced Pastry Chef with a passion for Italian pastry traditions to join our team in Morristown, NJ. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and creativity to the kitchen, specializing in crafting authentic Italian desserts. This role requires proficiency in pastry preparation, plating, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

Pastry Preparation: Create a variety of Italian pastries, cakes, tarts, and desserts using traditional Italian techniques and modern interpretations.

Menu Development: Work with the culinary team to design and refine seasonal dessert menus that showcase the best of Italian pastry-making.

Plating and Presentation: Plate desserts with precision and an artistic eye to ensure they are visually stunning and ready for guest service.

Quality Control: Maintain a high standard of quality for all pastries, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.

Ingredient Management: Oversee inventory and ordering of ingredients, ensuring freshness and the use of high-quality materials.

Team Collaboration: Work alongside other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and effective communication during peak hours.

Health and Safety: Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment.

Innovation: Stay current with dessert trends and continuously contribute creative ideas to improve the pastry offerings.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role, with specific expertise in Italian pastries.

In-depth knowledge of traditional Italian pastry recipes (such as cannoli, tiramisu, panna cotta, sfogliatella, etc.).

Strong plating and presentation skills with an emphasis on artistic design.

Ability to manage time efficiently and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to detail and passion for the craft of pastry.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

A genuine love for Italian culinary traditions and pastry-making.

Additional Requirements:

Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
