Additional details about our total rewards package will be provided during the recruiting processJob SummaryResponsible for management and oversight of Actuarial Pricing unit, including day to day functions and overall strategic direction. Provide support to business units as needed. Train and develop actuarial staff. Build actuarial and business expertise, including the pursuit of the FCAS designation. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise the performance of pricing analyses, including communication of indications to business units and assessment of loss reduction options. Attend and participate in meetings to review results and recommendations with Underwriting when appropriate, and work with staff to ensure their productive participation in meetings.Provide tools and guidance to assigned underwriters and management, to drive appropriate policy level and portfolio decision making. Provide front-line pricing support to business units on collaborative basis as needed.Provide front line field support to Field Underwriting, Corporate Underwriting and senior management in order to monitor changes to aggregate pricing levels and profitability through periodic analyses. Evaluate and communicate results to supervisor, business units and senior management when appropriate.Prepare special reports, data compilations, analysis of company and industry experience, as well as other ad hoc analysis requests. Communicate results directly to business units.Direct the maintenance and upgrades of automated systems and pricing models. Identify potential improvements and efficiencies within current processes. Lead efforts to implement these improvements, where agreed upon.Provide training and knowledge sharing opportunities to staff and other areas. Keep abreast of market conditions affecting the property and casualty industry.Job QualificationsCollege degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Economics required.5-7 years experience in Property/Casualty actuarial work.ACAS or FCASRequires advanced actuarial and analytical skills, along with a solid financial acumen.Strong communication and interpersonal skills also required.Must effectively train and develop actuarial staff.Hire and retain experienced actuarial talent.The expected starting salary range for this role is$146,000 - $209,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint.
