Description We are on the lookout for a meticulous Staff Accountant in Mahwah, New Jersey. The chosen candidate will be tasked with critical accounting duties in a dynamic workplace. The role is a short term contract opportunity that involves collaborating with Project Managers and Coordinators to maintain budgets and provide monthly Project level reporting.Responsibilities: Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to maintain budgets in our Project Management Software system. Update Budget forecasting for both Prime Contracts and Subcontractor Expenses. Provide monthly Project level reporting to both Upper Management and Project Managers. Oversee Project Expenditure overages and work with Project Managers to process any related Budget or Commitment Change Orders. Assist Project Managers with billing using Construction Industry AIA Standard Document billing. Provide administrative assistance to the Controller. Work with Project Management team to ensure new jobs are opened in QuickBooks and Payroll Timekeeping system as new contracts are signed and formalized. Assist with the monthly close process: post monthly journal entries and A/P, A/R and Payroll Accrual journal entries. Prepare Cost/Variance Analysis between Actual and Forecasted amounts. Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks on an as-needed basis.Skills required for the role include proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, and Procore. Requirements Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Skilled in performing Bank Reconciliations Experience in handling General Ledger Ability to make Journal Entries accurately and efficiently Familiarity with Month End Close procedures Knowledge of software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, and Procore Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines Experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
