In addition, this individual will monitor sterile processing staff on proper inspection and sterilization processes to prevent post op infections. The coordinator must maintain a constant work flow between the SPD and OR Department. This position is under the direct supervision of the SPD director.Qualifications:Required:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of two years experience working in SPD Central Service Department, preferably with an orthopedic/neuro background
Preferred:
Graduate of a sterile processing technician program highly desired
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Obtain a Certified Registered Central sterile certificate in good standing
Scheduling Requirements:
Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
No Weekends or Holidays
Must hgave flexibility in availbality as shift time could change
Essential Functions:
Assists SPD Director and manager with special projects as requested
Assists SPD/OR manager with department in services/staff meetings
Assists all SPD technicians as needed to complete their daily work assignments pertaining to Ortho/neuro instrumentation
Ensures all Ortho/Neuro priority trays are processed in a timely manner with proper communication to the OR staff
Assumes responsibility for daily functions that pertains to Ortho and neuro instrumentation of the SPD Central Service Department during the absence of the SPD Director/Manager
Demonstrates knowledge of basic concepts of Infection Control, and is able to adapt this knowledge to SPD procedures in order to prevent surgical site infections in the operating room
Instructs and assists on the job training for new and existing SPD/CS personnel
Performs quality audits on all aspects of sterile processing
