Unit Concierge: Greet patients and their families as they arrive,

Accompany patient to their room and orient them to the unit,

Answer any questions they may have and let them know when the nurse will be in to see them.

Answer phones:

Greeting, Unit Name, Your Name, Status, 'How Can I Help You' Ex: Good morning , '2200', 'Kim', 'Unit Rep', 'How Can I Help You?' Always answer with a smile.

Interdepartmental Liaison: Place calls to different departments at Nurse s/Staff members' request

Assist Physicians

Assist with printing various forms from 3M or Epic,

Paging: Dial 25686to page via beeper, Dial 28100 or 18 to call via Vocera

Answer Call Bells: Hello Mrs Smith, This is Michele. How may I help you?'

Direct the inquiry to the appropriate staff member, RN vs NA,

The Unit Rep calls the RN or NA on the Vocera and notifies them that the patient is calling,

If the Unit Rep has the time, he/she can walk into the patient's room to find out what he/she needs and then direct the request to the appropriate staff member.

Putting Together an Admission Chart - Including: Face Sheets, & Necessary Stickers, Print Universal Packet from 3M, interfiling admission paperwork

Discharges, Expirations and Hospice

Pulling charts, making sure everything is in order/labeled, interfile thinned portion and making appropriate calls for Notify Operator, Front Desk, Staffing and nursing supervisor after 3pm of all expirations,

Maintenance of Charts: Labeling of unlabeled sheets, interfile all paperwork left in the front of chart, and making sure there are extra face sheets and enough labels in the chart.

Make sure all the paperwork is for the correct patient

Add Allergy, Falls, DNR, Latex, Bloodless and Isolation stickers when appropriate

If the chart is too thick, it will need to be thinned,

Thinned charts are placed in the appropriate thinned drawer and a thinned sticker needs to be placed on the chart.

EDUCATION:

High school graduate; some college preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of all orientation programs
