Their advanced practice is characterized by comprehensive health assessments and management of patients with acute and/or chronic health problems in the peri-operative cardiothoracic surgery setting. This is an inpatient role.Qualifications:Required:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey.
Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of New Jersey.
Masters prepared in Nursing from an accredited program
ACLS certified.
Candidate must have cardiacORcardiothoracic surgery experience.

Days
Essential Functions:
Responsible for conducting consults and optimizing patients prior to surgery.
Managing patients in the post-operative setting.
Managing patients post TAVR.
Discharging TAVR patients.
Obtain patient histories and perform physical examination.
Write admitting orders, routine orders and daily progress notes as indicated.
Assess and manage pre- and post-operative conditions as well as common health problems.
Order and evaluate pertinent diagnostic tests including but not limited to; Radiology, laboratories and ECG s.
Prescribe pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological treatments for appropriate medical conditions.
Educate patients and/or families regarding disease process, medical and surgical intervention and health promotion.
Document patient teaching.
Refers and communicates pertinent abnormalities to surgical director/medical specialist.
Removal of invasive drains, lines and catheters, debridement of superficial wound, and perform arterial blood gases.
Serves as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff in regards to patient and disease management.
Facilitate practices that are in compliance with PRO-NJ and JCAHO requirements.
