BACKGROUND
In 1948, the sons of Joseph and Carmela Stavola founded Stavola Contracting Co., the first Stavola Company. Today, Stavola Companies remain a family-owned and operated business, consisting of four major divisions: Asphalt and Recycling Materials, Construction Materials, Contracting (heavy highway construction) and Real Estate, all located in New Jersey. What started as a company offering basement excavation and driveway paving now has 3 quarries in NJ, 2 quarries in PA, 9 asphalt plants, 3 recycling centers, and several gravel mining operations.
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Role is focused on optimizing procurement activities, developing supplier relationships, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Execute and manage complex purchasing orders for goods and services. Monitor and track order status and address
delays or shipment discrepancies.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers. Conduct supplier performance evaluations and
manage supplier development programs.
Participate in negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
Identify and implement process improvements in the procurement cycle to enhance efficiency and increase cost
savings.
Collaborate with different departments to align procurement strategies with business objectives. Offer guidance and
support to other procurement staff.
Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify potential new suppliers and products. Prepare and present reports on
procurement metrics and market trends.
Ability to occasionally visit other company locations or supplier sites as needed.
POSITION/SHIFT
Full-time. Monday – Friday. 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Non-remote position.
REQUIREMENTS
3-5 years of experience in procurement, with a proven track record in a Buyer or similar role.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in supplier management and contract negotiation.
Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office.
Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
Experience and/or knowledge of the asphalt industry desired but not required
Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management desired but not required
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
