InternReq #:0000150787Category:PhysicianStatus:Full-TimeShift:DayFacility:Jersey City Medical CenterDepartment:Medical Educ DentalLocation:Jersey City Medical Center, 355 Grand Street, Jersey CIty, NJ 07302A one-year, non-categorical OMFS internship opportunity for an aspiring oral and maxillofacial surgeon to gain comprehensive experience in the field,The following is a breakdown of the program:Location: Jersey City Medical Center Level 2 Trauma Center and the Jersey City Family Health CenterDuration: One yearStarting date: July 1st, 2024Objective: To provide exposure to the full scope of OMFS procedures and patient care in an effort to prepare them for a residency in the field,Duties: Interns will be involved in clinic coverage, on-call duties, emergency room care, operating room procedures, and inpatient management of OMFS patients,They will also participate in weekly didactic conferences.Requirements: Prior completion of a PGY-1 General Practice Residency GPR or Advanced Education in General Dentistry AEGD is preferred but not mandatory,Salaries begin at the PGY-1 level, and the positions are fully funded,Applicants must be eligible for a New Jersey dental license or residency permitGoals: The program aims to:Provide experience in outpatient OMFS procedures, including extractions, pre-prosthetic procedures, and dental implantsOffer full-scope OMFS experience in the operating roomFamiliarize interns with the management of multi-system trauma patients at a Level 2 Trauma centerProvide exposure to pre-operative evaluation and treatment planning for surgery patientsAllow interns to gain experience in recognizing and planning treatment for dentofacial deformitiesRWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer
