Performs the RN role as warranted. Has accountability and responsibility for the professional development of the clinical staff in an assigned unit. Responsible for managing staff, overseeing patient care and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.ResponsibilitiesA day in the life of a Registered Nurse Supervisor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

Continually oversees office flow of patients and related tasks and immediately addresses any concerns that arise.

Insures staff competency and closely monitors staff implementation and follow through on physician orders related to in office testing and procedures, follow up patient care and education as well as addressing all patient questions and phone calls.

Delegates tasks appropriately to other staff members while maintaining professional and regulatory standards. Focuses on patient care, satisfaction and safety.

Ensures professional growth of staff by the completion of all required practice educational programs, and attendance at educational programs.

Acts as a facilitator in the event patients expectations are not met and attempts to resolve the issues.

Supervises clinical staff in the overall patient assessment process so that quality care and adherence to regulations are met at all times

Drives and contributes to performance improvement activities of the department.

Supports any regulatory (e,g,m OSHA, Joint Commission, NJSDOH, CARF, etc.) or organizational changes through behaviors and communication, educates staff accordingly, and holds them responsible for compliance.

Accountable for communication of critical and vital information either through the Huddles, staff meetings, or during daily interactions so patient care planning can be effective and complete.

Work closely with leaders and Human resources in the pre-employment process. Function as a resource for other departmental managers with issues related to clinical team members.

Functions as a resource within the department as it relates to clinical and administrative policies, procedures, regulations and other requirements.

Directly involved in the orientation of new clinical staff, including nurse and CMA training.

Performs evaluations of new clinical staff and makes recommendations.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ambulatory experience in relevant specialty-specific area

Completion of an approved RN program

Minimum of three (3) years recent nursing experience in respective specialty or equivalent. Exceptions may be made for internal candidates on a case by case basis.

Possess sound nursing skills, critical thinking, and strong clinical judgment in both routine and emergent patient assessments

Ability to multitask and detail oriented.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Hospital experience

Supervisory or charge nurse experience

Licenses and Certifications Required:

NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.

AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
