An internship with BD’s R&D Communication & Engagement team will provide real-world experience for a student interested in reputation management, communications, and content creation.

The intern will support internal and external communication strategies to reinforce BD’s reputation as a leading innovator in MedTech and an employer of choice for R&D talent. In this role, they will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to understand stakeholder goals, expectations and resourcing, engaging with associates and leaders and then develop a strategy and produce messaging and content to help achieve these goals.

Throughout our summer internship, students will have continued opportunity for growth and development, through observation, hands-on assignments, exposure to associates and leaders across R&D, Communications and other functions, informal mentoring and coaching. They may have the opportunity to build an extensive professional network, learn how to operate within a corporate communications environment within a highly regulated industry, and gain hands-on content creation experience, including key pieces to showcase within their portfolio.

We are recruiting highly driven students with a background in communications, media, television, or film.

Responsibilities:The summer associate will support BD’s R&D Communication & Engagement team. Responsibilities may include:

Support launch of new internal communications plan

Assist with content production. This may include:

Helping to develop communications plan, building out tactics according to goals, channels and stakeholders.

Writing, editing and supporting required approvals for content for internal and external BD channels.

Assisting with pre-production and production for photo and video shoots.

Postproduction, including editing video or animated/slideshow content

Evaluate competitor R&D/innovation positioning.

Provide support for content effectiveness: Monitor and assess BD content, gathering and analyzing metrics on owned digital channel engagement. Highlight emerging trends and suggestions for content format and engagement tactics as appropriate.

Track, organize and manage content in an R&D content library.

Required qualifications:Education

Current BA student pursuing a degree in Communications, Cinematography, Film Production, Journalism or Public Relations

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction as to duration.

Experience/Capabilities

Strong writing and editing skills; Ability to film, edit, and produce content independently

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere video editing software, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10 - 12-week summer internship period.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of American Medical Association (AMA) or Associated Press (AP) styles

Prior relevant internship/co-op experience

Prior experience with camera equipment such as; stabilizers, mics, cameras, etc.
