Each year our vaccines help protect as many as half a billion lives against life-threatening infectious diseases at every stage of life.With the application of business insight and industry knowledge, the Sr. Director of Business Development's key objective is to secure rights/partnerships for external opportunities to enhance Sanofi Vaccines’ early to late-stage R&D pipeline/technologies, Commercial portfolio and Manufacturing & Supply assets and technologies which will generate growth on a global basis.The focus of this position is to lead the business development process for complex and strategic projects from the point of formal initiation to transaction closing.The Sr. Director of Business Development maintains a close relationship and coordination with the Sanofi Vaccines GBU, the Sanofi Partnering Organization and internal Sanofi stakeholders, globally and regionally.Key Responsibilities

Lead the business development process for strategic and/or financially significant deals.

Drives transactions from initiation to closure to meet business terms and timeline expectations.

Head cross-functional, cross-cultural project teams of experts from R&D, Manufacturing & Supply, Finance, Valuation, Intellectual Property, Franchise, Regulatory and Legal and develop the full business case.

Develops deal structure and business terms.

Prepare project approval documents. Present and make recommendations for optimal decision-making to approval committees at both Sanofi Vaccines GBU and Sanofi levels.

Develops offering proposals and negotiation strategy. Lead the negotiation team in interactions with the external party. Negotiate and establish the necessary agreements with Legal/IP.

Promote cross-functional collaboration within Sanofi Partnering as well as with internal business partners to establish and maintain necessary governance, processes, ways of working and communication channels (e.g., BD, Due Diligence, Sanofi Valuation, etc.).

Maintain awareness and knowledge of Vaccine ecosystem by understanding trends, companies and key stakeholders.

Develop and maintain relationships with industry participants. Represent Sanofi at industry and partnering conferences and enhance Sanofi’s reputation as the partner of choice.

Key Responsibilities may differ among employees with the same job title and may change over time, in accordance with business needsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:EducationUniversity degree: BA/BS.Post-graduate education: MBA and/or MS, PhD.Experience & Knowledge

10 years of relevant business experience in biotech/pharma. Vaccine experience preferred.

5 years of BD&L or M&A applicable experience (e.g. negotiations, contracts, deal structuring, finance/valuation, collaborations, etc.)

Highly motivated, self-starter with a demonstrated track record of leading in matrix and cross-cultural environment while ensuring internal alignment, professional interaction with external companies and delivering on timelines.

Demonstrated deal sheet encompassing a variety of transactions (including complex projects)

Strong inter-personal skills including ability to successfully interact and negotiate with senior individuals, including CEOs, of potential partners.

Demonstrated ability to lead, think strategically and function in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing activities and priorities.

Overall business/technical/scientific knowledge of Vaccines (preferred).

Language:Fluency in written and spoken English.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Core Competencies

High level of drive, initiative and resilience.

Knowledge of biopharmaceutical ecosystem by following scientific and business trends, companies and key stakeholders.

Ability to combine an understanding of science and technologies with business considerations and basic commercial and financial models to develop deal structure, terms/business case and negotiation strategy.

Excellent networking ability in cross-cultural environments inside and outside Sanofi.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills.

Ability to travel 30%.
