Performs one or more of the skilled or semi-skilled tasks which normally would come under such crafts as plumbing, simple electrical repairs, general mechanics and carpentry. Uses all hand tools, power tools, welder, ladders, and scaffolds.

Gives in service to all maintenance personnel in the safe use of all power tools.

Repairs and maintains furniture, equipment, fixtures, doors, and faucet drains.

Constructs or reconstructs specific pieces of equipment stands, attachments, etc. Anchors objects to masonry walls, etc.

Performs wheel and caster work on all rolling stock.

Performs minor repairs on electrical equipment (i.e.; cord ends, heating elements, lights, simple wiring, etc.).

Rotates weekend duty as requested.

Installs equipment.

Rigs scaffolding.

Advises supervisors of emergencies, difficulties, or unusual situations.

Maintains sewage treatment plant.

May service, repair and control generation of continuous supply of steam or hot water for heating hospital and/or outlying buildings. This may include supplying power to machinery and auxiliary equipment.

Clears and plows snow.

Maintains required state and hospital records for boiler operators.

Responsible for cabinetry and construction as needed.

Maintains vehicles when removing trash from the job site and notifies mechanics of vehicle malfunction.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

Minimum of 4 years experience as a general repair person, maintenance person, or a particular trade & proficiency in the use of hand/power tools.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Black Seal License (Low pressure) or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
