Position Summary

As a Trailer Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all aspects of trailers and related equipment. You will utilize your technical expertise to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailer systems and components (e.g., brakes, suspension, electrical, lighting, and structural elements).

Perform preventive maintenance, including checking fluid levels, replacing worn parts, and conducting safety inspections.

Conduct welding and fabrication as needed to fix or modify trailer components.

Maintain accurate service records, including work orders and parts usage.

Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality repairs.

Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and relevant industry standards.

Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in auto/truck mechanics is preferred.

Minimum of two years hands-on experience working with trailers, heavy trucks, or related equipment.

Strong knowledge of trailer systems, including braking, electrical, and structural components.

Proficiency with diagnostic tools, welding equipment, and hand/power tools.

Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and repair instructions.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, bending, and lifting (up to 120lbs) is required.

Ability to work in a shop environment subject to temperature variations, noise, and dust.

Must adhere to company safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
