Job Summary:
As a Diesel Mechanic at National Wrecker Service, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components in our towing and recovery vehicles. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet remains operational and safe, allowing us to provide top-notch service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles, including inspections, adjustments, and overhauls.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair or replace defective parts, such as brakes, transmissions, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to prolong the life of diesel engines and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each vehicle.
- Collaborate with the wrecker service team to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and provide solutions.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and best practices in diesel technology.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, especially in heavy-duty vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine components and systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
- New Hampshire State Inspection License
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical conditions.
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments and potentially in inclement weather.
