Security Systems Technician

Job Title: Lead Security Systems Technician (Commercial)

Project Types: Commercial, Office Buildings, Industrial Buildings, Mixed-Use, Retail, Tenant Improvements, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct repairs, inspections, and programming on low voltage security systems, handling both basic and high-complexity setups.

Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and respond to service calls.

Execute light installations for small system modifications, such as add-ons or deletions.

Safely remove and decommission systems as needed.

Test and verify full system functionality to ensure compliance with scope, operational integrity, and customer satisfaction.

Update as-built drawings, system documentation, and device schedules to ensure accurate records.

Support Project Managers and Installation Technicians with IT coordination, implementation, commissioning, and final documentation.

Provide regular service status updates and resolve minor project-related issues.

Follow all safety protocols, protect property, manage truck inventory, and maintain organized workspaces.

Skills & Qualifications:

Must hold a valid state-issued driver’s license.

MA D-License preferred; must meet state qualifications for alarm and electronic security licensing.

3-6 years in low voltage security systems; strong troubleshooting skills with Mercury Hardware, Andover Controls, Genetec, Amag, and Axis Cameras preferred.

In-depth knowledge of installation and troubleshooting methods, best practices, and procedures.

Ability to interpret and understand blueprints and technical diagrams.

Proficient with test equipment and tools such as multimeters, cable testers, fiber kits, etc.

Solid understanding of IP networks, network troubleshooting, electronic security technology, and adherence to building code and NEC (National Electrical Code).
