Warehouse Associate - Second Shift

JOB SUMMARY:

This Non-exempt postition reports to the Operations Manager and Warehouse Supervisor. The Warehouse Associate will assist in the loading and unloading of freight at the warehouse, store materials, pick, pack and scan orders. The goal is to increase efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow the directions of the Operations Manager and WH Supervisor.

Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship).

Receive items into the warehouse. Assure that items received are stored appropriately and safely and that their location is recorded properly. Report any discrepancies. Fill out reports for any damaged product received.

Locate stored items and move them to the dock or trailer verifying accuracy at each step.

Use hand jack, forklifts and other mechanical equipment efficiently and safely. Use the hand-held computer accurately.

Assist supervisors, customers and co-workers in solving moving problems.

Blanket wrap and strap all freight, using beams when required - we are a blanket wrap carrier.

Other responsibilities as assigned: clean and organize trucks after offloading, separate cardboard and clean up trash area at end of night, assist other warehouse personnel as needed.

Always use the proper equipment in a safe manner.

Be aware of warehouse safety requirements

Follow quality company standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations.

Come to work neatly groomed and dressed wearing the required Sterling uniform.

Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers. Be cooperative and pleasant in all dealings with supervisors, customers and co-workers.

Perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Maintain good relationships with other members of the Operations Department, as well as other Sterling employees and customers.

HANDLE CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION:

All Information about freight stored and moved by Sterling and information about customers of Sterling is considered confidential and to be shared only with those who have a legitimate business need to know.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Warehouse Associate must be able to be very physically active throughout the workday.

Must be able to lift at least 50 lb repeatedly and safely.

Must lift greater weight occasionally and safely share a load with a co-worker.

Be able to stand for long periods of time.

Be able to drive a hand jack and forklifts safely.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Have a high school degree.

Prior Warehouse experience.

Proficiency in inventory software, databases and systems.

Good organizational and time management skills.

Have experience operating a hand jack and forklift.

Demonstrate basic customer service skills.

Be a reliable team player.

Possess a valid driver's license.

Pass a background check.
