Waldman Plastic Surgery and Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant for our busy Plastic Surgery and Dermatology practice in Nashua, NH. Our group offers medical, surgical, and cosmetic services to patients from NH, VT, MA, ME, and more. Candidates should possess excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to multitask, and strong organizational skills.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Practice Administrator, the major duties and responsibilities of the Medical Assistant are not limited to the following clinical and administrative duties:
Clinical Duties
- Assist provider in patient care, including scribing all patient office visits
- Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is available in patients’ medical record prior to their appointment
- Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
- Provide compassionate patient support and care, attention, and assistance during office visits
- Preparing and administering medications under the direction of supervising physicians or physician assist
- Taking patient medical histories
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examination
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Instructing patients about medication and diets
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed
- Removing sutures and changing dressings
Administrative Duties
- Using computer applications
- Answering calls and returning messages
- Greeting patients
- Updating patient medical records, i.e., changes in medical conditions
- Filling out prescription prior-authorization forms
- Scheduling appointments
- Arranging for laboratory services
- Handling correspondence
Required Experience
- Proficiency in administrative tasks
- Basic understanding of clinical tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Familiarity with digital record systems
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor. Previous Plastic Surgery and/or Dermatology experience highly preferred
Medical assistants must have knowledge of:
- Healthcare field and medical specialty
- Medical terminology
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Knowledge of EHRs
