The Inn at Hancock is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating country inn and tavern. Founded circa 1789, the Inn has been the subject to a 2-year historic $7.5M restoration and property investment. Our luxury country inn offers guests accommodations in 15 guest suites as well as four distinct dining offerings adorned in traditional bespoke decor and period antique furnishings.
One role is for immediate hire (April), helping to get the property ready for May re-opening, but ALSO hiring full-time and part time roles for May start
Scope and Function
The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the rooms and shared spaces of the Inn’s property. The essence of the role is ensuring an exceptional customer experience by providing cleaning services for the Inn and by cleaning, stocking and refreshing guest rooms during and between client stays. The ideal candidate for this role is strong, reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and focused on service and customer delight.
Responsibilities Include:
Servicing guest rooms, conference rooms, hallways and common areas in accordance to established hotel procedures
Maintaining a stock of clean linen and towels, including running loads of laundry through industrial machines, and folding towels
Maintaining appropriate levels of supplies and organization in housekeeping carts and re-stocking rooms appropriately
Changing bed linens, vacuuming, cleaning room surfaces and tidying the room, while maintaining care not to disturb guest belongings
Cleaning and sanitizing bathroom surfaces and refreshing towels and guest amenities in bathrooms
Maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude towards both guests and other employees
Documenting any deficiencies in guest rooms and common areas and reporting to direct supervisor
Following established lost-and-found procedure
Respecting all Inn equipment, appliances and supplies and use with care
Adhering to all of Inn policies and procedures
Maintaining a clean and professional appearance while wearing the Inn’s established uniform
Performing any other duties as requested by the General Manager
Guest Relations
Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day
Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
Direct guests to appropriate staff to resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
Maintain complete knowledge of:
o Scheduled daily activities and in-house groups.
o Daily house count.
o Inn extension numbers
o Features and services provided by the inn.
o Proper use of radios carried by inn personnel
Accommodate all requests for information courteously and follow through on them to ensure completion
Be familiar with all inn services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
Be completely knowledgeable about the property and its layout, including all guest accommodations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
Ability to speak English and ability to provide legible and respectful communication and directions
Ability to lift up to 40-60 pounds on a regular basis, in order to handle laundry, linens, towels and vacuums.
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm, courteous and respectful at all times
Ability to think clearly, act quickly, maintain concentration, and make concise decisions under pressure
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions thoroughly, and outstanding organizational skills
Ability to function as an integral part of a team, working collaboratively and respectfully with co-workers, but also perform job functions proactively and with minimal supervision
Ability to handle housekeeping or cleaning work, including cleaning solutions and laundry detergents (gloves are provided)
Integrity and honesty in all interactions, including maintaining confidentiality of guest information and hotel information and data
Education and Experience:
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent training certificate
1-2 years of hospitality and/or cleaning experience
