Drafter needed for an engineering and construction firm, specializing in electrical utility and airfield projects.

Mandatory Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Associate’s Degree in drafting or engineering technology, OR

3+ years of progressive experience as a drafter or engineering designer.

Ability to pass a background check.

Candidate will be required to get a badge for government agencies that are routine clients (US Department of Transportation, US Department of Defense).

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple active projects and deadlines, under the direction of multiple senior design engineers.

Candidate Responsibilities:

Create DWG’s that are in accordance with AIA National CAD Standard and client specific CAD standards.

Create building or site baseplans from scratch, without existing documentation.

Create building or site baseplans from client provided data (PDF’s, DWG’s, DGN’s, RVT’s).

Candidate will need to update, conform and fix client provided data to modern CAD standards.

Create comprehensive plan sets of projects at the engineer’s direction. Projects may include:

Fuel tank installation/replacements,

Generator and critical power system installation/replacements,

Airfield power system installation/replacements,

Airfield NAVAID installation/replacements,

FAA 7460 airspace studies,

Large commercial client power system upgrades (interior building upgrades and exterior building service upgrades),

Grounding, bonding and lightning protection projects,

Solar generation and battery energy storage projects,

Generate plans and application forms for permitting submittals (ROW permits, environmental permits, land use permits, waivers, etc…),

Candidate will manage and constantly update drafting files and libraries for use by the company.

Candidate will be occasionally required to travel to sites for surveying, measurement, data confirmation and oversight of related subcontractors like surveyors or LIDAR scanners.

The following items are not strictly required, but preferred:

Experience with electrical one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams and other electrical schematics,

Experience with Civil 3D,

Experience accessing publicly available elevation sources (LIDAR, DEM, LAZ/LAS products),

Experience with ReVit,

Experience with 3D LIDAR building scans,

Experience with panoramic photo stitching products (Matterport, Autostitch or equivalent),

Experience generating plans and forms for permitting submittals,

Experience with airfield rules & specifications.

Familiarity with the NAD83 State Plane Coordinate System.

Compensation and Expectations:

Position is full-time, salaried, commensurate with experience, with the opportunity for bonuses. TBD upon interview and demonstration of experience.

Position includes comprehensive benefits package.

Position requires in-person work as a general requirement, with the opportunity to work remotely if necessary due to extreme weather. Offices are in Portsmouth, NH or Hampton, NH. Presence in the Hampton, NH office is preferred.
