Position Overview: A Tradesperson Class 2 in Material Control is responsible for understanding and adhering to basic inventory practices; use heavy equipment as necessary to ship and receive materials. This position works with minimal supervision and must be willing to work in all areas of the facility as needed. Responsibilities and Duties:

Follows basic inventory practices such as FIFO, lot/serial control and NCM materials

Successfully learns and performs material issuing procedures and documentation requirements

Accurately store, count, weigh and inspect for damage on all materials required by production

Handles hazardous waste appropriately

Safely operates heavy equipment, such as fork lifts and scissor lifts, to maneuver, ship and receive materials, as well as legally operate a motor vehicle to complete local errands (if licensed)

Follows verbal and written instruction and is accountable for his/her actions

Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices

Maintains timely and accurate documentation pertaining to material handling

Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives)

Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner

Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency required

Two or more years of related experience and/or training preferred

Experience with safely operating a forklift and scissor lift within manufacturing environment

Demonstrated ability to work in a team and possess a positive communication style

Maintaining a valid driver’s license (class D; operator) strongly preferred

Basic computer skills, including internet, MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook), ERP software, document control software strongly preferred; willingness to learn required

Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions

Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day

Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments

Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends

Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
