Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze for Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in liquid/aqueous/oil/solvents matrix and on sludge/solid samples
  • Include preparation of samples using Soxhlet extraction and Separatory Funnel extraction, appropriate PCB clean-up methods, calibration and maintenance of instruments, logging data and following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Analyze and run semi-quantitative tests for cyanides and sulfides in solids or liquids
  • Conduct spot test as fingerprint analysis
  • Conduct laboratory tests for total organic content and heating value (BTU) of liquid samples
  • Analyze TCLP metals with ICP instrumentation
  • Perform physical and chemical testing in support of the site QA/QC program as per waste analysis plan and assist with strategic plans
  • Initiate continuous improvement projects, supporting daily operational tasks and compliance with federal and local municipal guidelines
  • Perform evaluations on incoming and outbound waste shipments
  • Perform related work and additional duties as requested/assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 or more years of prior experience as a Chemist
  • 1 or more years of experience running PCB testing with data validation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences
  • Prior industry experience running tests on hazardous waste
  • Knowledge of Perkin Elmer Clarus 580 & 680
