Laboratory Assistant

POSITION SUMMARYThis position supports the general upkeep and maintenance of the laboratories, includes routine cleaning house keeping and calibration of basic instruments. The incumbent will receive, inspect, sort and label client samples. Reagent ordering and delivering to the right team.Must be able to follow standard procedures, communicate with all levels and a strong team player. Follow Training SOP for training and training records.JOB FUNCTIONSMajor job duty is executing sample preparation and breakdown by tools ex. cutting, scraping, smashing, crushing….Participate in maintain and calibration of basic instruments such as balance and water system asassigned by Metrology Manager calibrations according to established procedures.Cleaning of the lab and removing of all the waste containersDiscard solvent waste, acid waste, cytotoxic waste in the lab,Check and maintain the desiccatorsMaintain the fridge.Refill all the lab suppliers – paper towel, glovesMaintain and clean the fume hoods, dissolution baths, sonicators, water bath and other instrumentsCleaning the glasswareMaintain equipment in good order and in compliance with SOPsKeep the work area clean and organized e.g., immediately clean up spills, dispose of waste according tolaboratory procedures, remove expired reagents and chemicalsStage samples and work packages for release into the laboratory for testingMaintain clean and stocked workstations ensuring spills are immediately cleaned; hazardous wastedisposal according to laboratory procedures, glassware is appropriately handled, and lab solutions arereplaced.Maintain good housekeeping, schedule and monitor housekeeping activitiesFollow pre-established laboratory cleaning schedulesRefill all necessary chemicals, reagent, water.Perform other assigned lab duties as per required time intervals and within scope of skill and ability of the incumbent
