Job Title: Plant OperatorJob DescriptionThe boiler operator is responsible for operating and monitoring a gas-fired turbine power plant to provide electricity, steam, heating hot water, and chilled water to a college campus. Operate a gas/#2 fuel boiler plant as a backup. Monitor electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment as directed.Responsibilities

Provide electricity, steam, heating hot water, and chilled water to campus.
Operate a gas/#2 fuel boiler plant as a backup.
Monitor electrical systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
Light maintenance on motors, pumps, valves, etc.
Read and interpret blueprints.
Essential Skills
Mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of electrical systems
Experience with preventative and corrective maintenance
Machine operating skills
Knowledge of wastewater systems
Computer skills
Blueprint reading and interpretation
Experience with steam boilers and chillers
Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of steam, power, and chilled water systems specifically gas and steam turbines
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Military experience
Experience working as a maintenance mechanic/technician
Experience with preventative maintenance
Ability to trace piping
Understanding of drawings
Ability to perform work in a safe, conscientious, and efficient manner while maintaining environmental and housekeeping standards
