Funding for this position ends on June 30, 2025The State of New Hampshire, Department of Administrative Services, Division of Public Works Design and Construction has a part-time vacancy for a Clerk of the Works II.Summary:Ensuring contractor compliance with contract plans and specifications, supervising technical procedures used in the building construction trades.YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS:Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.Minimum Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in civil, mechanical, structural or electrical engineering, or architecture. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.Experience:Five years' experience in the field of architecture, building construction, Clerk of the Works or a related field. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.License/Certification:Possession of a valid driver's license if necessary to perform field tests and on-site inspections.Responsibilities:
Coordinates construction on multi-million dollar complex projects with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and Division of Public Works, Design, and Construction project managers.
Writes daily progress reports showing completed work by contractors, subcontractors and consultants.
Analyzes conflicting details in the construction process and collaborates corrective measures with contractors, subcontractors and consultants.
Adjusts details to construction needs.
Attends meetings between contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and city and town building officials.
Inspects and approves work being done by general contractor and his subcontractors as it relates to: contract requirements; state, local and federal codes; and current industry standards.
Compiles reports to show differing details in the work and issues field changes and clarifications.
Checks products delivered to the job site against approved shop drawing submittals; oversees testing of products and materials used in the building trades
Ability to handle several projects simultaneously during various stages of construction with a variety of different general contractors and subcontractors.
Continuously monitors the contractors progress and compares to the construction schedule in order to determine if the contractor is on schedule to meet the overall project completion date.
Reviews contractors labor compliance documents to ensure all applicable state and federal labor laws, as specified in the contract documents, are being met.
Reviews contractors monthly payment requisition to determine if the payment requested is representative of the work completed.
