Concord Group Insurance is seeking an Underwriting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities within an assigned Underwriting Division area of responsibility involving the products or services of the Company by working individually or through associates. Work is performed independently. Responsibilities
Make suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, termination, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of associates.
Assist management by supervising office/department activities that include but not limited to:
training and developing associates and conducting performance appraisals;
planning, assigning, and directing work to meet Company objectives;
ensuring associates consistently meet Company service expectations;
addressing complaints and resolving problems;
rewarding and disciplining associates; and
interviewing candidates and associates to fill open positions.
Review the progress made in meeting objectives, analyze operating procedures and recommend improvements, when needed.
Regularly update management regarding the progress in meeting objectives and problems involving area activities or services.
Ensure Company procedures are being followed.
Review files, documentation, and correspondence and respond appropriately.
Demonstrates innovativeness and continually seeks more efficient ways to process and handle work.
Maintain punctual attendance according to an assigned work schedule at a Company-approved work location.
Assist with other duties as assigned within the department or elsewhere upon request.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, related field or other post-secondary education required
5-10 years of property and casualty underwriting experience specific to commercial lines
Supervisory experience preferred
Ability to read, interpret, and react to documents such as insurance policies, procedure manuals, and legal documents.
Ability to assemble information, develop opinions, and clearly express decisions using sound reasoning and judgement.
Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
Ability to communicate, in both oral and written formats
Possess good problem resolution skills and good interpersonal skills.
Ability to deal with a diverse group of individuals and manage varied factual circumstances.
Ability to understand and carry out complex instructions.
Ability to motivate and delegate work to associates.
