Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityWe're in search of an experienced and culturally competent individual with a background in mental health or social work to support our Campus Care | Te Papa Manaaki Team. Campus Care coordinates personal and wellbeing support for our students and directs them to appropriate resources and further assistance.
The role of the Case Manager is to provide health, wellbeing or conduct support and advice to students, staff and any member of the University community who has concerns about a student. Using a case management approach, the Te Papa Manaaki Case Manager will gather information, triage, assess and identify the appropriate support for the student.The Te Papa Manaaki Case Manager removes confusion for students and staff trying to navigate University processes and structures and gets them the right support, sooner. Students are supported to overcome barriers to success and health impacts are minimised.Responsibilities include:Triaging and managing queries and referrals from students, staff or any member of the University community in person or via phone, email or the online formConducting psychosocial assessments and risk assessments and refer critical situations in a professional and responsive mannerCoordinating communication with those involved, including the person who raised the concern, the student/s and other parties as appropriateLinking students to the appropriate support, from internal self-help information to external specialist services, and document advice in a support plan
This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
Remuneration is $83,300 - $102,900 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

 He kōrero mōu | About youOur ideal candidate will be a registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with experience working with people who may be facing mild to severe mental health concerns.To be successful in this role, you will have the following:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or similar field e.g. Allied HealthCurrent membership of a relevant professional bodyA minimum of 3 years’ experience working with or providing mental health support to students or young adultsDemonstrable understanding and experience of case management and its application to support services
Preferred:Experience working or volunteering in a tertiary environment and an understanding of student needsKnowledge or awareness of the issues affecting tertiary students and young adultsCultural competence in working with the diversity of the student populationProficiency in Te Reo would be valued

It provides early and holistic support with the aim of preventing further escalation, reducing the burden on the student of accessing help, minimising duplication and gaps in service provision across support providers, and minimising the burden on academic and other non-support staff of assessment and referral requirements.
