Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityReporting to the Revenue Analysis Manager, you will be responsible for providing financial insights and analysis enabling senior leaders to make informed decisions in an increasingly complex, competitive and dynamic environment. You will engage with and develop an understanding of business units of the University, with a view to monitoring financial performance and identifying issues and risks. This involves regular monitoring of forecasts and budgets and associated report writing.The focus of the role centres on the financial implications of funded research to the University although with significant contributions to central management performance reporting is also important.Some key responsibilities include:Financial Planning and Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify student trends, provide financial insights, monitor forecasts and budgets, and prepare finance reports.Business Case Analysis: Ensure business cases are well-analysed and support recommendations.Continuous Improvement: Drive efficiencies in business, financial, and operational processes, and support strategic initiatives.Business Partnering: Deliver excellent customer service, improve financial literacy, and ensure compliance with finance policies.Coaching & Mentoring: Provide support and guidance to the analyst team.Valuing Equity: Support the University’s commitment to Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and demonstrate equity behaviours.This is a 12 month Fixed-Term full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday). For more information, please see Position DescriptionMō tō mātou rōpū | About the team Join a small, dedicated team that collaborates closely with all Faculties and Service Divisions.He kōrero mōu | About you You have a passion for planning & analysis, strong attention to detail, and well-developed analytical skills. You enjoy teamwork but can also work autonomously and across different management levels.You should have a Bachelor of Commerce or a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably with a major in accounting and taxation. Membership with a professional accounting institute such as CAANZ, CPA, or an equivalent is preferred. We are looking for candidates with specialised experience, including 1 to 2 years at a senior technical advisory level. Experience with advanced financial and accounting software systems and working in large, complex organisations is also desirable.You should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a service-oriented mindset.
