We are seeking a motivated and agile Student and community Engagement Adviser to join our Schools and Community Engagement Team, reporting to the Poutaki Taura Tangata Maori (Schools Recruitment Manager).

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with targeted kura, wharekura, secondary schools, tauira Māori, teachers and school community groups, listening to their needs, and seeking opportunities to partner with them to support tauira Māori (predominantly year 9 to 13) and their whānau plan for and achieve their aspirations.You will also have an important role in r leading Māori school student engagement and nurturing relationships with schools and the wider community. Working in partnership with the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor Māori to coordinate engagement activity and support prospective Māori students and their whānau to navigate their journey into the University.Key Responsibilities:Support the development and implementation of strategic plans to develop the school leavers’ experience as they engage with the University and begin navigating their way to the point of applicationResponsible for achieving recruitment targets for prospective school leaver students through delivering presentations on behalf of the University and participating in on and off campus engagement events.Support programme specific outreach, engagement and recruitment in line with the School Leaver segment plan and working with key faculty staff.Establish and develop strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including careers advisors, other key secondary school staff and relevant staff across the University and faculties in line with the segment plan and the wider team.Develop effective relationships with school leaver’s and their whānau on behalf of the University, playing a guidance and support role.This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent opportunity. The salary range for this role is $72,000 - $88,900, depending on skills and experience.
