Posted 02/23/2024 Close Date: 03/08/2024 Recruiter: ADRIAN FOSTER Phone: (702)486-2911 Email: [email protected] Applications accepted for another 13 Days 0 Hrs 52 Mins The PositionEquipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.-Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties described in the series concept to include journey level duties such as extensive electrical and fuel system diagnosis and repair work, rebuilding complete transmissions, converting surplus military vehicles to fire apparatus, and performing mechanical inspections of vehicles involved in accidents. Incumbents may provide training, work direction and review to semi-skilled equipment shop staff such as Equipment Mechanic I's, Fleet Service Workers, students, and inmate workers. This is the journey level in the series.Under direct supervision, Equipment Mechanic IIs maintain, repair, and modify light, medium (GVWR 10,500-26,000 lbs.) and heavy (GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs.) wildland firefighting and resource equipment. This position is located at the Elko Regional Shop. Incumbent is typically involved in the inspection, maintenance, repair and modification of light, medium and heavy wildland firefighting and resource equipment including cars, light pickups, medium duty trucks, crew carriers, fire engines, water tenders, tandem axle dump trucks, motor graders, bulldozers, front end loaders, tractor/trailer combinations, chippers, yarders, masticators, and ATV/UTVs. Repairs and service may be done in a repair shop or in the field. Positions in the Division of Forestry must pass a physical agility test, medical examinations, and background investigations provided by the agency.

Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
