The PositionCertified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.This position is located at High Desert State Prison. Certified Nursing Assistants perform several key responsibilities. Primary duties include patient assessment and documentation, where the CNA collects, reports, and records basic health data, and provides direct patient care under the supervision of RN or LPN. This includes assisting with activities of daily living such as toileting, bathing, dressing, and feeding. The CNA also responds to call lights, assists with food trays, and helps with filing and restocking supplies, ensuring all tasks align with the Nevada State Board of Nursing Practice Act and departmental regulations. Other responsibilities involve adherence to safety and OSHA guidelines, maintaining clean and safe environment, and evaluating patient care equipment for safety. The CNA must display professionalism and excellent customer service, maintain confidentiality, and cooperate with staff and inmates. Strong work ethic, computer skills, and proficiency with necessary programs are essential, as well as performing clerical duties and special projects as needed to support the nursing staff and ensure effective functioning of the infirmary.
